Big Data, Global Diplomacy, and our Digital Heartbeat

The online world is allowing faster, more representative, and round-the-clock access to societal behavior around the globe. Moreover, the constant stream of daily life that flows across online media platforms provides rich contextual background information on the narratives of each region and culture. This talk will survey the reality of where we are with big data today, cutting through the hype and hyperbole to explore just how we can use big data to understand human society in ways that are directly applicable to diplomacy, governance, and global politics.
