BIOLOGY DEPARTMENTAL SEMINAR SERIES

Weekly Departmental Seminar Series.

Please join the Department of Biology on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 12:30 pm for a talk on “You’re hot and you’re cold”: neurotransmitters modulation of bacterial virulence expression
by Dr. Prof. Vanessa Sperandio (UT Southwestern Medical Center)

Prof. Sperandio's research program is focused on understanding how bacteria recognize the host, and how this knowledge can be exploited to interfere with bacterial infections. She was the first to show that microbial flora (microbiome) communicate with the host using inter-kingdom signaling (utilizing epinephrine and norepinephrine), and pathogens intercept these conversations.

Hosted by: Drs. Shaun Brinsmade and Steven Singer

Beverages and snacks are served prior to the seminar!
