Careers for Linguists in Corporate Social Responsibility

Matt Clark leads global engagement programs and directs the Center for Citizen Diplomacy at Pyxera Global (Washington, DC). He designs corporate social responsibility strategies for JPMorgan Chase, IBM, PepsiCo, and GSK, working with teams around the world that deliver solutions for issues ranging from food security and transportation infrastructure to women's economic empowerment and workforce development. Matt will discuss how linguists with expertise in sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, and intercultural communication (and those in other fields who have developed "cultural competences" or high-level "global fluency") can find meaningful work with positive social impact through facilitating CSR projects around the world and engaging in citizen diplomacy.
