Employee Relations for Managers and Supervisors
Creating and sustaining a positive work environment is a core responsibility of Georgetown University managers and supervisors. Through proactive initiatives, to include understanding relevant University policy and clear communication, effective supervisors can guide employees towards their best possible performance and effectively address employee issues and concerns as they arise.
This interactive workshop reviews relevant University HR employee relations policies and practices for supervisors and managers and is designed for those responsible for managing employees in departments across the University. This workshop will provide supervisors with the knowledge and skills to:
- Understand employee relations policies
- Identify and learn how to address employee concerns
- Practice coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline strategies
- Demonstrate effective communication
Facilitator: Roberta Kelley Paul
Roberta Kelley Paul is the University HR Director for Employee Relations and Engagement at Georgetown. She has been a member of the University HR staff since 2006. Roberta has been a member of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) for more than fifteen years and is certified as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) as well as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) with the HR Certification Institute. She is a graduate of the University of Houston where she earned both her B.S. in psychology and an M.B.A.
