Experience. Film Screening: Waste Land

The Georgetown University Art Galleries are pleased to co-present a film screening of the award-winning documentary Waste Land with the Core Pathways Program and the Department of Film and Media Studies.

See Lucy Walker’s 2010 documentary feature film about a unique collaboration between a renowned contemporary photographer Vik Muniz and trash pickers from the world’s largest landfill Jardim Gramacho outside Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This film screening is part of a series of multidisciplinary programs that expand upon themes of the ongoing exhibition Design Transfigured/Waste Reimagined on view at the GU Art Galleries through December 15, 2019.

Funding is generously supported by organizations including the Georgetown University 2019 Laudato Si’ Fund, Creative Industries Fund NL, and the Netherland-America Foundation; additionally, this program is supported as part of the Dutch Culture USA program by the Consulate General of the Netherlands in New York.
