Extractive Industries in Latin America - Opportunities, Challenges, and the Way Forward

Don't miss the Georgetown University Latin American Conference 2017: Extractive Industries in Latin America- Opportunities, Challenges and the Way Forward (GULATAM17).

This year’s edition of the Conference will deconstruct the different roles that extractive industries play in the region’s economies. We will bring together professionals, investors, public officials and student leaders engaged with Latin America, drawing on their experience and insight to generate a discussion on the costs and benefits of the oil and mining industries in the hemisphere, the role that countries like US, Canada, and China take when investing in the region’s extractive sectors and how extractive industries may contribute to sustainable development within the context of global climate change and can be used as an engine to further regional development
