GU Schola Cantorum - Gregorian Chant Choir

Directed by  Candy Bartoldus, Ph.D.
Ancient Chants on Peace and Justice

The GU Schola Cantorum celebrates its first performance with this program of Gregorian Chants from early Manuscripts  (e.g., 10th Century). This semester the Music Program offered instruction to students, staff, and faculty interested in learning Gregorian chant. We made tremendous progress and now invite you to experience this beautiful music. We will sing all Propers and Ordinaries from the Mass of Peace and Justice, and end with a short demonstration of Vespers sung antiphonal format. The audience will be invited to sing several chants (e.g., Kyrie, Ave Maria, Adoro Te Devote, Veni Creator, Magnificat, and Puer Natus). Guest artist Allison Mondel (Director, Eya Ensemble for Early Music) will sing “Karitas habundat” by Hildegard of Bingen. Solos also by Georgetown University’s Ivana Brekalo, Christopher Brush, Natalie Cronin, and Dr. James Olsen.
