Learn to Love Open Data

Do you need large datasets for your research? Looking for free data to analyze? Join us to discover openly accessible statistical data available from the U.S. government and other organizations.

As part of Love Data Week 2018, Business Reference Librarian Jennifer Boettcher will host a discussion covering sources of open data and statistics, ways to find the data you need, and how to stay aware of developments in data creation, access, retrieval, articulation, presentation, publishing, and curation. Open to anyone in the Georgetown community, this presentation will answer faculty, student, and staff researchers’ questions about accessing and evaluating open datasets.

Can’t make it to the event? This presentation will be recorded and posted online on the Library’s Love Data Week home. Check out all of the Library’s other related content and activities, too. And remember to join the global conversation on social media using #lovedata18 and #hoyaslovedata.

Jennifer Boettcher has been a business librarian for over 25 years. Her research focuses on government sources, in particular NAICS. She co-authored a book, with Leonard Gaines, Industry Research Using the Economic Census: How to Find It, How to Use It (Greenwood Press, 2004). Her previous book is Key Business Sources in the U.S. Government (ALA RUSA, 1998). Honored with RUSA's Gale Cengage Learning Award for Excellence in Business Librarianship.
