Jake Blount in Concert

Join us on Thursday, November 8th, for a special concert in the de la Cruz Gallery featuring Jake Blount.

Jake Blount is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and scholar based in Takoma Park, MD.  Blount took up banjo and fiddle as a student at Hamilton College, and became a full-time performer and scholar in 2017, after receiving his B.A. in Ethnomusicology and releasing his first CD: Reparations.  His art and scholarship both focus primarily on the music of Black and indigenous communities in the southeastern United States.  He has shared his music and research at the Smithsonian Institution, The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA, and numerous other colleges, museums and universities.  He tours domestically and internationally as a duo with fiddler Tatiana Hargreaves, as half of the duo Tui, and with the Moose Whisperers, an award-winning old-time string band.
