New Employee Orientation Invitation: You’re Scheduled!

Congratulations and welcome to Georgetown University! As a new employee you will have many opportunities tocontribute to the University’s mission of education and research as well as to learn and grow in your own career. 

To get you started with the basics of the University's work life, you have been scheduled for New Employee Orientationon Wednesday, September 6, 2016. This program will be held in the Herman Room of the Healey Family StudentCenter from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM 

This University-wide Orientation is coordinated by University Human Resources for all new staff members. The session isinteractive and informative and is designed to help you begin a satisfying work-life experience at Georgetown. Topicsinclude university resources and services for employees, the culture history and traditions of Georgetown, familyresources, and life and work programs. 
NEO is required for all newly hired Administrative employees.

Benefits.  It is critical that you make certain benefit elections within 60 calendar days of your first day atGeorgetown. If you do not, your next opportunity to enroll will be during Open Enrollment (held each fall) and yourbenefits will not take effect until the next calendar year. We strongly encourage you to attend a Benefits Orientationsession prior to making your elections in GMS. Register online using your Georgetown email address here.(

Self-Identification of Personal Information.  As a new employee you will be asked to complete a number of tasks in theGeorgetown Management System (GMS) as part of your on-boarding process. One such task requests that you self-identify your personal demographic information, such as race, ethnicity, gender, disability, and veteran status. Westrongly encourage you to complete this information.  As a Federal Contractor, Georgetown University is subject togovernmental recordkeeping and reporting requirements for the administration of civil rights laws and regulations and isrequired to solicit this information. The information obtained will be kept confidential and may only be used in accordancewith the provisions of applicable laws, executive orders, and regulations. When reported, data will not identify anyspecific individual.

NetID – This is a unique identifier used for email and other electronic services. You can find your NetID by visiting theGeorgetown directory ( and entering your name. 
GOCard – This is your official University ID card. Once you have an active NetID, you can stop by the GOCard Officein Darnall Hall to obtain your GOCard which will allow you to access the University's bus system and library. TheGOCard is also used to regulate access to restricted buildings and offices, and functions as a campus debit card. You mayalso enroll in the new "GOCard Direct Deposit Program” and receive a 1% bonus deposit for every payroll deposit whichcan be used for purchases around campus. UIS offers this course specifically for new employees to learn about basiccomputing at Georgetown, the accounts necessary to gain network access and read email, contacts for accounts necessaryin your department, and additional classes they offer. Courses take place online.  Length: 2 hours
