Project Management for Georgetown University Employees (Staff) September 12-13, 2017

NOTES: This is an intensive 2-day workshop that requires approval from your supervisor.
Registration is for 2-full days and you must attend both days to receive credit. Requests for late arrivals and early departures are not permitted unless for an emergency.
Delivering work on-time and on-budget can be a real challenge. Efforts to ensure timely delivery is often impacted by inadequate information and often leads to missed deadlines and frustration. This workshop presents a project management model with tools and practices to ensure the delivery of timely and on-budget work assignments.
The goal of this workshop is to blend theory with application and save time, frustration, and credibility by:
Practicing foundational project management skills
Identifying resources at Georgetown to provide assistance after the workshop
Drafting a personal roadmap for getting more accomplished with and through people
Specific activities you may choose to complete during this session include:
Articulating the purpose, staff, and products needed to successfully complete a project
Launching a project to ensure all team members are engaged and aware of their responsibilities and interdependencies
Dividing work responsibilities, estimating time, and determining costs and risks
Determining resources needed to complete the work and identifying where to get assistance
Creating a project plan that fits the group's needs, expectations, and practices
Engaging in vendor management to secure outside services, monitor performance, and stay within the legal limits of the contract. (NOTE: Contacting and scheduling Georgetown's Procurement Team, in advance, to present a short overview of their services is beneficial)
Preparing a plan for effective project communications and analyzing risks
Selecting appropriate quality measurements for deliverables and project activities
Discussing and practicing project performance reviews (including identification of employee who should receive evaluations) and determining infomation that should/should not be included in the review
**There is a $90 materials and facilitation fee for this workshop. It will be charged directly to the cost center in your office. An additional workshop fee will be incurred for all registrations not canceled at least 72 hours before workshop.
