Schola Cantorum: Ancient Advent Chants
Directed by Candy Bartoldus, Ph.D.
With special guest Alison Mondel, soprano
Ancient Advent Chants
Gregorian Chants from early Manuscripts (e.g., 10th Century)
Please join the GU Schola Cantorum for our Fall performance. This academic year the Music Program offered instruction to students, staff, and faculty interested in learning Gregorian chant. We made tremendous progress and now invite you to experience this beautiful music. We will sing all Propers and Ordinaries from Rorate caeli Advent Mass, and end with a short demonstration of Compline sung antiphonal format. The audience will be invited to sing the several chants (e.g., Kyrie, Asperges me, Ave verum Corpus, Conditor alme siderum, and Alma Redemptoris). Guest artist Allison Mondel is the director of Eya Ensemble for Early Music.
Sung in Latin. English translations will be provided.
