Share The Journey with Refugees and Migrants: Pope Francis' Campaign

Wednesday, September 27 at 4:30pm to 6:00pm

Healy Hall, Riggs Library 37th and O St., N.W., Washington

There are more refugees and migrants in the world today than at any time since World War II—in fact, one out of 114 people in the world today is not living in the country where s/he was born. On September 27, 2017, Pope Francis is launching a global campaign to support these displaced individuals. This historic “Share the Journey” campaign aims to provide insight into the factors contributing to today's worldwide refugee crisis and increased migration, with the hope that greater knowledge will lead to a more welcoming environment for migrants across the globe.

Archbishop Silvano Tomasi will expand upon Pope Francis’ call to action, providing insight on how communities—including Georgetown’s campus community—can most effectively mobilize around the campaign. He will focus on how religious actors and groups can play stronger positive roles in relation to refugee movement and migration, addressing the difficulties of integrating new arrivals into our society.
