Please join us for a conversation about American higher education with Davis Chair Visiting Professor Chad Wellmon, leading voice in contemporary critical debates on the academy. He is a Professor of German Studies with appointments in History and Media Studies, at the University of Virginia and the author of Becoming Human: Romantic Anthropology and the Embodiment of Freedom,  and Organizing Enlightenment: Information Overload the the Invention of the Modern Research University. Dean Celenza and Dr. Wellmon will discuss current challenges facing institutions of teaching and learning in a time of cultural upheaval and uncertainty. How has the university's role as a bulwark for expertise, intellectual authority, and truth changed over time, and how can it navigate new threats and challenges?
