Theater of the Voiceless: Symposium of Documentary Theater
?Theater of the Voiceless,? a symposium (June 17) and festival (June 16-19) at various venues around Washington, brings together leading playwrights, artists, political and cultural experts from the United States and German-speaking countries to discuss, perform, and celebrate the international power and vitality of documentary theatre.
This June 17 symposium commences with a presentation by Ping Chong, one of the foremost practitioners of documentary theater in the United States, and an internationally acclaimed director, playwright, video installation artist and pioneer in the use of media in the theater, along with two of his collaborators from Ping Chong + Company.
The day will continue with staged readings of ?Worst Case? by Kathrin Röggla (Austria) and ?a small, small world? by Konradin Kunze and Sophia Stepf (Germany, in attendance) with contributions from Abhishek Majumdar (India).
Additionally, Artistic Director Michael Dove and his Forum Theatre Company and the Taffety Punk Theatre Company will perform pieces inspired by the content presented at the symposium.
