Donated to Georgetown in 1979 by the Marquesa Margaret Rockefeller Strong, the Villa and its historic grounds include residential and classroom space, as well as seven formal gardens designed by renown English landscape architect Cecil Pinsent. Perched on the steep southern hillside of Fiesole overlooking the city of Florence, Villa Le Balze hosts academic programs and events year-round, including undergraduate study abroad, graduate and post-graduate research activities, conferences, and symposia.
