Georgetown World Languages Day

You are invited to the first Georgetown World Languages Day, where we explore the opportunities that learning world languages provides! 
Free to all participants, this event offers two panel discussions:
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm   Language Learning and Study Abroad
What would it be like to study abroad?! How much will my language improve if I study abroad? In this session, we will discuss these questions with Georgetown students who have traveled internationally.
2:30 pm - 3:30 pm   World Languages in the Workplace
What opportunities will studying a world language bring to your career? Come and listen to how Georgetown alumni use their world language skills to succeed in their careers! 
Our panelists: 
Mohamed Abdel-Kader 
Mohamed is the Deputy Assistant Secretary in the International and Foreign Language Education (IFLE) Office at the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Office of Postsecondary Education (OPE) 
Roxana Caprosu
Roxana is a business savvy and results driven international practitioner with 10+ years of experience providing diplomatic, operational, and consulting services to governments, private firms, and international organizations. Roxana has experience in international relations, strategic business planning, international development, and legal practice, having worked with prestigious organizations such as the World Bank, the European Union, the US Department of State, and the Romanian Government. 
Miika Tomi
Miika Tomi has worked as a spokesperson for the Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Trade. In his work he used Finnish, Swedish, English and French and benefitted from his ongoing project to learn Chinese and Russian. 
Mark Visona
Mark spent six years in the Middle East pursuing graduate studies in journalism and mass communication. He is currently a researcher interested in social media, the use of poetic slogans in propagating revolutionary ideals, translation studies, and Forensic linguistics.
