Background: This is one of the events associated with the International Partnership for Excellent Education and Research (INTPART) grant, awarded by the Research Council of Norway to the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan at the University of Oslo, to unfold over the 3 years of 2019 – 2021. The INTPART partners are: the Center for Multilingualism in Society across the Lifespan at the University of Oslo (INTPART Director: Liz Lanza); four universities in South Africa: University of Cape Town (co-PIs: Ana Deumert, Raj Mesthrie), University of the Witwatersrand (PI: Gilles Baro), Stellenbosch University (PI: Christine Anthonissen), and University of the Western Cape (co-PIs: Zannie Bock & Christopher Stroud); and Georgetown University’s Initiative for Multilingual Studies (co-PIs: Anna De Fina & Lourdes Ortega).
